Yeah well I guess we're just not True Believers if we let a half assed design keep us from participating. It's damn sure kept me from commenting on the front page when I know my comment will vanish into the murk. It has reduced the number of Oppo articles I read since I can't tell how many comments are there without opening every damn article. Stupid design.

I've noticed a pretty heavy drop off in Oppo activity...the 'one hour' rule now appears a couple of times over night. Wasn't common in the past.

I feel the same way. I know i cant compare to the quality of all the posters who get on FP. So i feel hesitant to write or post sometimes. I shouldnt feel that way, but sometimes...

Use innocent communities like this to get free content, because who doesn't love having their e-penis strokes (even me) by being on the front page?

That kills the community. It changes the pace. Now its less "trollololololol" and more "serious business" and if I wanted serious business I'd go have some fucking coffee with industry guys, not hang out here.

Pretty much. And I guess Denton thinks it will pull more eyeballs because ad revenue. But I do know I'm not reading the front pages (Jalopnik, Deadspin, Gawker) as much as I used to...when not traveling I'd hit each 3-4 times a day and make comments regularly. Now it's 1-2 times a day and opening fewer of the articles in each case because 1) I can't tell without opening every article the number of comments and 2) tiny pictures. The ones I do open, I don't comment like I used to...don't see much reason to comment when I know the comment will disappear down into some sort of abyss, shoved down by some Kinja algorithm, never to be seen again. So much for encouraging more discussion.
